Books of December

Lots of extra time for reading this month since I had two weeks off.

The Boy on the Wooden Box by Leon Leyson.  Memoir by the youngest person on Schindler's list.  This turned out to be a children's book but was interesting reading, even for adults.

Glitz by Elmore Leonard.  Not my preferred genre but my book club chose this after Leonard's death.  Pretty good.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion.  Funny book about a socially-challenged professor who decides it's time to find a wife.

The Sisters Weiss by Naomi Ragen.  Story of two women of different generations who run away to escape their ultra-Orthodox Jewish community.  Not Ragen's best but good.

Once We Were Brothers by Ronald Balson.  Interesting concept--elderly Holocaust survivor accuses millionaire philanthropist of being a Nazi.  Miserable execution--poor writing style, poor character development, dialogue that sounds like someone giving a badly written speech.  Balson should stick with being a lawyer.  John Grisham, he'll never be.

Happy New Year and Happy Reading.
