Juvenal
If Juvenal looks like a grumpy old man, he was. He wrote biting satires about Roman life in the late first century and early second century A.D. But he was also wise, and here is his recipe for a good life: "Ask for a brave mind, with no fear of death, which puts a long life last among Nature's gifts, which can bear any hardship, which doesn't know anger, and which lusts after nothing."
I'll be back on line on May 26.
